Manually clear the drain trap

Real talkThis is messier and takes some fiddling, but it beats paying a plumber if the clog is in the trap.
Bill of materials
- Bucket or bowl
- Old towel
- Wrench or pliers (optional)
Assembly
- 1Place a bucket under the sink trap to catch water.
- 2Loosen the slip nuts on the trap by hand or with pliers.
- 3Remove the trap carefully and dump out any gunk inside.
- 4Rinse the trap with water to clear residue.
- 5Reassemble the trap and check if the sink drains better.
⚠ Be ready for some gross water and gunk when removing the trap.
