FIX

Manually clear the drain trap

Medium< 30 minFreeBasic tools

Real talkThis is messier and takes some fiddling, but it beats paying a plumber if the clog is in the trap.

  • Bucket or bowl
  • Old towel
  • Wrench or pliers (optional)
  1. 1Place a bucket under the sink trap to catch water.
  2. 2Loosen the slip nuts on the trap by hand or with pliers.
  3. 3Remove the trap carefully and dump out any gunk inside.
  4. 4Rinse the trap with water to clear residue.
  5. 5Reassemble the trap and check if the sink drains better.

Be ready for some gross water and gunk when removing the trap.
